Do you like heights?

Some people get dizzy if they go up high and then look down.

The London Eye was built to celebrate the new Millennium and British Airways are the sponsors of the project. The London Eye has 32 cars which can hold twenty-five people. You need 35 minutes to do a complete circuit. It is beside the River Thames and you can have special view on the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. The maximum height above the ground of the wheel is 135 metres. On the clear day you can see 40 kilometres far, for example Windsor Castle.

 Tower of London

The Tower of London was started to build in the 1070’s. It was a castle and a palace. Later it was used as a prison, a zoo, an armoury and a Royal mint. Nowadays there is a collection of royal armour and weapons and also a special area with Crown Jewels. The oldest crown in the collection is St. Edward’s. It was made for the coronation in 1661. There are 2 868 jewels on the crown. You can see the Queen wearing this crown once a year. At the Tower Beefeaters live. They are royal guards which wear the same uniform from Tudor times. Each night the Chief Warder locks the gates.

The Tower Bridge is famous bridge on the river Thames. It was opened in 1894. It is the only bridge which can be raised.
